RF Online releases Accretian song by Razorback!
RF Online Philippines commissioned veteran hard rockers Razorback to create a song based on the cyborg race, Accretia. Titled “Empire Accretia”, the song features heavy guitar riffs, pounding bass lines, furious drums and Kevin Roy’s trademarked voice.
The lyrics talks about the superiority and awesomeness of the Accretian Empire and its troops as seen from the eyes of its enemy. Being a certified RF Fanatic, Kevin Roy’s lyrics were true to the Accretian mythos and complements the game's overall experience.
The following is an interview with Kevin Roy, talking about the song and the new sound of Razorback featured on the song.
GM Gaea: In general, how did you prepare to write the song "Empire Accretia"?
Kevin Roy: I’ve actually been studying the Novus culture for over a year now. I got a hold of the RF Online presskit / history lesson in January 2006. From there I read up on the Cora culture and wrote a song (Birthright) with my other band, Loquy. After writing Birthright, I then moved on to write Empire Accretia.
GM Gaea: What did the others (the band) contribute to the song? Words or notes? Booze? :)
Kevin Roy: The band basically did the music because I can’t seem to play a musical instrument to save my life. They came up with the riff and we all pitched in with the arrangement. Tirso, one of our guitar players, came up with the line: “bastard sons of the techno demon!”. That was pretty much the kicker of the song. That did it for me. Oh yeah… Manuel, our other guitarist, came up with a kick-ass string arrangement for the song. I don’t think the song would be the same without it.
GM Gaea: What can you say about the song? What was your inspiration?
Kevin Roy: We tried to make the song “universal” in such a way that not only the players of RF Online would appreciate it. Pati na rin yung ibang listeners madadamay.
Basically, I remember being a noob in the game. Accretians would then come and trample us lowbies underfoot. I remember xipher and those other accretian bastards hurting me good. My lessons were taught in steel. “Fear” inspired this song. Halata naman sa lyrics yung “fear”. I hope the general public gets that feeling, too.
GM Gaea: Did you have to make adjustments on the overall sound of Razorback for this song? In what ways?
Kevin Roy: If at all there’s a difference in the Razorback sound, we’d have to attribute that to Manuel. Manuel is the guitar player of Wolfgang who recently joined us. He adds a different “metal” flavor to our generally blues-driven hard riffs. We didn’t really have to adjust with the sound, being that we’ve played together for the longest time. Kilala na namin si Manuel.
GM Gaea: You mentioned playing the game, how did your gaming experience influence you in writing this particular song?
Kevin Roy: My experience in Novus certainly helped me in getting the right feel for this song. I basically lived the part and it’s very evident that the perspective in which the song was written was that of a non-Accretian who lives in awe/fear of the machines.
GM Gaea: We heard you're a very loyal Corite. Did that make it hard for you to write a song for another race?
Kevin Roy: It was very hard for me to write a song for a race that basically wants to destroy me every time they see me. I respect that concept because it’s a game dynamic. Life wouldn’t be the same without those Bastards. =)
GM Gaea: Who else among the band play RF Online?
Kevin Roy: Currently none of my bandmates play. However I’ve been trying to corrupt others to play the game. It’s really not hard for people to get hooked on the game. All it takes is a few hours on it… and a few more hours…. And a few more hours… and a ….. cool.gif
Players will be able to enjoy the song when it’s applied to the game’s launcher early next month. Players can also tune in to NU 107 to listen to the song.

Update!
I know I haven't updated my blog for quite sometime.
Last Thursday was my first day in work. Ami introduced me to the team. Didn't do much. I just played games, meetings, had a tour at the floor and were introduced to people.
Then Saturday, we had another Dragoon-Blooded Campaign and Nuada got himself a new armor - Scourge of the Dragon bwahahaha!!!! Going home, Mike's car was stuck at Robinson's Pioneer where we parked because it's passed 12 and we can only get it 9am later... you know, mall's parking policy. We hitched a ride when Marc took Meloy home. At Edsa, a trailer truck fell on its side taking up 4 lanes which caused a major traffic. We later found out that the truck's wheel blew up and that the driver was dead.
Later will be the start of my regular shift.
Great video card = eye candy
Iba talaga pag maganda video card LOL
Currently I'm level 23 and leveling is pretty easy coz of the quests. I also noticed that the monsters with the same level are constantly giving 1% after killing them. I don't know if it's because of my level range or it will be hard when I get higher. Another thing, I noticed that there're no specialty armors - melee and magic. All armors have strength requirements of which I should be allocating to my INT instead.
While I was roaming near Near-Water Town, I found a small cat running really fast. With the help of my other pet, I managed to catch her. Meet my kitten - Boo. Don't be deceived by her size, she's uber kunat XD
Found at the heart of Archosaur City. It's a really huge city with almost maze like set-up. What I hate about this city is that there are quests that you have to go to another NPC of which are found on the other side of the town. There's no problem with searching for the NPCs because of the locator but they're too damn far! It's eating a lot of time >_<
This is what I like with a good video card - eye candy. I love the water. This is the bridge between Near-Water Town and the path going to Archosaur City.
This is an underwater view at the port in Archosaur city. It's like floating in mid-air when you're underwater. I hope they made it more foggier.
This is the beast mode of the beast race. Female avatars are fox and male avatars are tiger. And that's how they snuggle when in beast mode haha!
I'll put more screenshots later.

Oh hell yeah! It's about time!
A glimpse of a perfect world
I borrowed a CBT account from a friend and fortunately I was able to play longer. At the top is a close up view on my character and at the bottom is with my pet (yes, that spine I'm holding is my staff). My race is Beast and class is Yao Jing. They are the summoner types - she can tame animals, put them in an incubator and summon them to join her in combat.
As far as I have played, PW has lots of NPCs. See those avatars behind me on the 2nd screenshots, those are NPCs. And that's not even the half of it. You have the crafters like ironsmiths (weapon), tailor (armor), artificers (accessories), etc. Then there are your npcs for each class for the skills. There are 2 classes for each race (there are 3 race) so that's 6 npcs. Also bank npcs, town elder, storage.... yeah madami nga talagang npcs. With all these NPCs, thank gawd there's npc tracker XD
Quests. Ah the quests. Hindi nauubusan ng quests ang PW. Quest is only good if you like reading though. Me and Mike bumped in to a player who just kill monsters and keeps on asking us where to level.
Bad part is the inventory. For now, you can store up to 32 items in your inventory and 8 items in storage -_-;
That's as far as I can tell I guess. Will post an update when I get in to higher level.
By the way, here's my ride XD

I'm in!
The result from my previous post?
I PASSED! I'm an incoming Product Management Officer at
Level Up Inc. Which product? Take a guess :p
By the way, the one I've been working on and helping Mike with recently is already updated -
PW Site. I specifically got "OC-ed" at the
Game Interface section of the site. You know who you are who helped me on this one. Thanks a bunch! There's another one. The reason why I got sick. I'll mention it when it's already published.
Can't get enough
Weee!!!! I finished God of War II in God Mode (hard mode)!!! May audience pa ako nung tinapos ko sya XD That's actually the first game I dared to finished in hard mode and I'll finish it again with all the urns (sort of in-game cheats) I found in game. Uu. Adik na ako :p
Wish me good luck for a job interview tomorrow! XD
Happy Mom's Day
Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies out there ^__^
Me and my sister bought a cake and went to Cainta to spend the day with my parents especially with my nanay. We attended the afternoon mass and after the First Reading, my sister asked me if I understood it. I said "no". The reader have this pattern of tone when she reads. She doesn't know how to intonate a sentence which makes it sound like it's not a sentence. It's like hearing phrases put together.
I missed my nanay and it was good to see her again.
Love you, Nay.
At last! I'm done with the project. That's a load off my hands. I can finally do other things that I want to do XD
Bangag (ulit)
I just noticed the date on my previous entry. I published that yesterday but made the draft 2 days earlier. Anything that pops in my mind, I'd usually put it in draft first since I can't update my blog "real-time" coz I have so many things to do *stretches*
I miss playing with my pig.
I miss playing RF.
I miss chatting with my friends. Well I can. But not attentively. Minsan nakakalimutan kong may ka chat pala ako. Sorry sa mga naiwan ko T_T
Miss ko na yung ni te text ko everyday T____T
I want to skin
my multiply account.
I want to make a new skin for
my blogspot as well
Haayyy... matapos lang 'to....
Bawal tumawid
Me and Mike were on our way back to his place. When we opened the radio, one of the DJs was talking about the sermon when she attended a mass. It was about the coming election on the 14th.
It's a very common scene that people complain on how bad the government runs this country. All blame goes to the government but have these people asked themselves if they're also doing their part?
Generally, Filipinos lacks "discipline". Here's a very good and very common example - garbage problem. Some parts of Metro Manila are filled with garbage. Every nook and corner from the creeks to the road. Garbage piles up and it will be a haven for insects that carries disease. Inevitably, residents will go to the local government and complain about it. After cleaning that up, the residents will start messing the place again. LOL it's an endless cycle.
Another one that was pointed out during the show was jaywalking. If people would only read, understand, and DO what those signs say (Wag tumawid. NAKAMAMATAY) then the government wouldn't have to put up fences and more signs along the road which costs a lot and comes from the taxes people pay. And by abiding that sign your life might be spared and your pocket as well hehe...
Distorted beauty
Dove: EvolutionI saw this video from Chino's MSN blog and all I can say is, "damn those image editing software!" Well it let's you change things that doesn't exist and it makes you believe otherwise. LOL
I was looking at Mike's newly bought FHM magazine and saw this featured model who also happened to appear in a "gm's blog". I won't name her coz I don't want to start a commotion. ;) She mentioned a site where she usually hangout so I went there. It so happened that there was this certain pic that's also shown at this gm blog. But there's something different. Her puson vanished! Ah yes... the magic of image editing software! You can turn an uber fat person to a super sexy model XD I am very tempted to post the two pics but again, I don't want to cause a commotion. I might, but not now haha! I'm not being mean if that's what you're thinking.... well... a bit. I am aware of my own physical "flaws" but sometimes I just can't help but make "pintas" :p
Back to the topic. Some people have low self-esteem because they think they're not "beautiful". Philippines have standardized beauty with fair skin, high-bridged nose, sexy body... do the math. These standards are abundantly found in reading materials especially in magazines, TV, billboards and internet. Which I find ironic because almost all of them are "made up".
Media affects a person's perception in almost every angle since we encounter them everyday. It's a common scene like when a bunch of kids picks on a dark-colored girl and calling her "baluga". They bear that until they grow which gives them a different outlook as far as appearance is concern. Oh don't tell me that doesn't matter coz it really does. I remember watching this late night program in channel 2, Noypi, where they made a little experiment if better looking-people have an advantage over not so good-looking people. Unsurprisingly, they do. One of the experiments was talking their way out to the police after making a wrong turn. After few pleadings, the good-looking girl was let go. It was longer for the not-so-good-looking girl.
I just hope they look (more) on what they have rather than what they don't have. Imperfection is what make things "un-boring". As one of my favorite quote say:
I may not be totally perfect, but parts of me are excellent.
~Ashleigh Brilliant
The 8-legged superhero
Ok. Comments (not reviews. I really suck in making reviews) on the latest movie shown - Spiderman.
I haven't read the series but I sure played that much to at least know the characters hehe. Anyhoo. Overall the movie is nice. But... (of course there will always be 'buts') I think 2 villains is quite too much and Harry's amnesia is kinda off. That's as far as I can comment. Maybe the movie is good to those who don't read the comic XD
After watching, we wen't to pick up Marc, Meloy and Kenneth to go to John's place for the Dragoon-Blooded campaign. We held it there to bypass John's curfew and for a change haha! As usual we stayed there till 5 or 6 in the morning. Our campaign focused on the ball with lots of social combat so we spent most of the play talking and reasoning - Chase and John's favorite part. What I did? I danced an NPC (Sima) that's part of our group because she found out that her fiancee is at the ball and I also found out that she has a crush on Eran (John's character).
I've been receiving PMs in my YM about shutting it down. Also, I've been hearing that it could be possible since
Microsoft is planning to buy Yahoo. I really don't care. STOP SPAMMING MY EFFING YM! I know you guys have been "spammed" with messages like "yahoo will shut down to get rid of inactive accounts. If you don't send this to 20 of your friends, your account will be deleted" or ANY other messages related to that crap. C'MON! That rumor has been around for YEARS and you still believe that mumbo jumbo?!
Flintlocke and his groin
YM stat: Shut up an' stuff yer head in me groin! It's green. I know.
It's actually a line from
Flintlocke comic. It's a WoW based comic strip that's really funny.
Anyhoo, back to the stat. The story behind that is Flintlocke's on a quest in finding the ultimate weapon of some sort. They have to go through a monastery's graveyard to dig their clue. But since the monastery was manned with humans (their party consists of a human, an elf, a gnome and a dwarf), they have to disguise themselves. They captured 3 acolytes roaming around the monastery and stole their clothes. Since the gnome and the dwarf have to look human (duh! humans are tall), one of them have to stand on another's shoulder...
Actually there are more groin incident in that story but that'll do. I don't want to spoil it. I've been laughing my ass out since I started reading this.
*Ohh.. he has his own
Wikipedia entry eh?
Coffee with friends
Yesterday
me,
Rob,
Kenneth,
Mike,
John and
GP (Mike's brother) went to CBTL. Well it was my idea to go out coz the night before that Kenneth was airing his grievances to me. It was a long talk particularly when I was kinda stopping him from doing something that I know he'll regret afterwards. It's not something bad. So knowing Ken (who carry problems like a really, really, big burden), I asked him to go out together with our other friends. Buti nalang libre yung dalawa. As usual ako na naman ang only lalake sa amin.
It was good talking to them again. I miss being with them. We spent almost 4 hours in CBTL just talking. Kawawa nga sa akin si Ken kasi panay ang tukso ko sa kanya to this certain girl. Lalo na nung tinawagan sya ni Mike and passed the phone to Kenneth. Uuuuyyyy....
Tinutukso ko sya kasi I know it'll make him smile. If I know, feel na feel nya eh
Oh and na-treat ko na si Rob. Weeee!!!! ^_____^
Dinner time at Good Earth, non-stop parin ang kwentuhan. Highlight yung kwento ni John when he's sharing WoW's comic
Flintlocke. Not to mention dubbing it with Irish (or Scottish?) accent
Too bad I don't have my camera na
Went home around 9. Hope Kenneth had a good time ^^;
Spot the difference
Before I leave, I want you to take a look at the screenshots of two website. The first one is from
WoW and the second one is from
Malaysian Perfect World website. Talk about originality. Thanks Rolf for the link
